Political consultations in Tashkent
The ministries of Foreign affairs of Luxembourg and Uzbekistan held the second round of political consultations on 1st June 2026 in Tashkent.
The Luxembourg Delegation, headed by Mr. Gilles Bauer, Deputy Director for political affairs, was welcomed by Mr. Jamchid Saydazimov, Head of the Department for Cooperation with European Countries, who underlined the importance of the partnership with Luxembourg as a political and economic partner and within the European Union.
The meeting was the opportunity to discuss the dynamic bilateral relations and areas of further cooperation, such as inter-parliamentary dialogue and economic cooperation. Both delegations also exchanged views on issues of international importance and reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation within multilateral fora.
During the visit, the Delegation met with the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce and Luxembourg businesses operating in Uzbekistan to discuss activities of the Chamber. They also discussed the trade mission of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce to Uzbekistan in October 2026.
Also, during the visit to Tashkent, on 2 June 2026, Mr. Thomas Reisen, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented Ms. Nigora Karimova with her letters of provision as a Honorary Consul in Tashkent, with jurisdiction over the Republic of Uzbekistan. Ms. Karimova’s appointment will further help develop the relationship between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
