Working visit of Minister Asselborn to Russia on 25th February 2014
The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, had a working visit to Moscow on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014. He was received by his Russian counterpart, Minister Sergey Lavrov, for a bilateral meeting followed by a working luncheon.
The working visit of Minister Asselborn to Moscow first of all allowed to clarify the bilateral relations by reviewing the politico-diplomatic, economic and commercial ties between both countries.
The relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation as well as the current political situation in Ukraine were discussed.
The Ministers also exchanged their views on the various subjects related to the Luxembourg Presidency of the Security Council in March 2014.
The situation in the Middle East and particularly the Syrian crisis were also discussed as well as the recent developments in Iran as well as in Africa.
