The Luxembourg Minister of Finance visits Moscow on November 21st, 2011.

    Mr. Luc Frieden, Minister of Finance of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, undertook a working visit to Moscow on November 21st, 2011 in order to sign the amendment to the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on income and on capital that has been signed in Moscow on June 28th, 1993

During his visit, Minister Frieden met with the acting Minister for Finance of the Russian Federation, Mr Anton Siluanov, and with the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Sergey Shatalov and held meetings with the President of the Central Bank of Russia as well as with various presidents of private companies. 

The amendment of the agreement is related to the efforts of Luxembourg to improve the treaty provisions in the economic purpose and focuses particularly on the taxation of dividends which are now reduced now from 10% to 5%. The political agreement was reached in Sotchi in August 2010 during the meeting between Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker and the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Dmitry Medvedev in the presence of both Minister of Finance of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and of the Federation of Russia.
