The Governor of the Tambov region, Mr. Oleg Betin, on a working visit in Luxembourg.
By invitation of the Minister of Economy Etienne Schneider, the Governor of the Tambov region, Mr. Oleg Betin, paid on working visit to Luxembourg on July 1st and 2nd, 2013. The Governor was accompanied by a large trade delegation for this visit.
During his visit, Governor Betin had an audience with His Royal Highness the Grand-Duke and meetings with the Prime Minister, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean Asselborn, and the Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade, Mr. Etienne Schneider as well as the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Laurent Mosar. The discussions focused on bilateral economic, academic and cultural cooperations between Luxembourg and the Tambov region of Russian Federation.
An economic seminar related to the "Economic opportunities between Tambov and Luxembourg" was held at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce with the participation of the Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Robert Dennewald, and 35 businessman. Various visit in the food and health sector were organized for the delegation.
An agreement was signed between the University of Luxembourg and the Tambov State University which aims scientific cooperation, as well as the exchange of students, teachers and staff. The University of Luxembourg will receive three students from the State University of Tambov during the 2013/2014 academic year.
Related to the historical ties between the Luxembourg and the Tambov region, Governor Betin visited the Documentation and Research Centre for the Forced recruited Luxembourgers during WWII and laid a wreath at the monument of the Deportation in Hollerich.
