New Luxembourg government, December 4th, 2013

Following the signing of the coalition agreement by the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Worker’s Party (LSAP) and the Green Party (Dei Greng), the members of the new government have been received on December 4th by His Royal Highness the Grand Duke for the swearing in of the new Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister as well as the appointment of the Ministers.

At the beginning of the ceremony at the Grand Ducal Palace, the Head of State signed the Grand Ducal Decrees for the formation of the new government. Thereafter, the Prime Minister took the oath based on article 110 of the Constitution “I swear loyalty to the Grand Duke and obedience to the Constitution and the laws of the State. I promise to fulfil my duties with integrity, accuracy and impartiality”.

The new government of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg is composed of the following people:

•             Mr. Xavier BETTEL, Prime Minister, Minister of State, Minister for Communications and Media,

               Minister for Religious Affairs  

•             Mr. Étienne SCHNEIDER, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy, Minister of Internal Security,

               Minister of Defence

•             Mr. Jean ASSELBORN, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Minister of Immigration and Asylum

•             Mr. Félix BRAZ, Minister of Justice

•             Mr. Nicolas SCHMIT, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy 

•             Mr. Romain SCHNEIDER, Minister of Social Security, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian

               Affairs, Minister of Sport

•             Mr. François BAUSCH, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure

•             Mr. Fernand ETGEN, Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Consumer Protection, Minister for Relations with

               Parliament

•             Mrs. Maggy NAGEL, Minister for Culture, Minister for Housing

•             Mr. Pierre GRAMEGNA, Minister of Finance

•             Mrs. Lydia MUTSCH, Minister of Health, Minister for Equal Opportunities

•             Mr. Dan KERSCH, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for the Civil Service and Administrative Reform

•             Mr. Claude MEISCH, Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Minister for Higher Education and Research

•             Mrs. Corinne CAHEN, Minister for Family and Integration, Minister for the Greater Region

•             Mrs. Carole DIESCHBOURG, Minister for the Environment 

The new government is also composed of 3 State Secretaries:

•             Mr. Camille GIRA, Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure

•             Mr. André BAULER, Secretary of State of Education, Children and Youth, Secretary of State

               for Higher Education and Research

•             Mrs. Francine CLOSENER, Secretary of State of the Economy, Secretary of State of Internal Security,

               Secretary of State of Defence
