Mr. Georges Faber, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan

From 12 to 19 June 2022, Mr. Georges Faber, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

During his visit in Nur-Sultan, Ambassador Faber met with Mr. Bagdat Mussin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry and discussed cooperation between Luxembourg and Kazakhstan on the peaceful exploration of space and the sustainable use of space resources, as well as in the area of telecommunication by satellite and digitalization.

The Ambassador also met with Mr. Erzhan Kazykhan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Special Representative of the President for International Cooperation, and Mr. Roman Vassilenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. They discussed the 5 June referendum and the ongoing reform process in Kazakhstan, the EU-Kazakhstan relationship and, in this context, explored ways and means to expand the bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg. 

This visit was also an opportunity to visit the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ambassador Faber was welcomed by Mrs. Aigul Kuspan, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, and Mr. Amanzhan Zhamalov, Member of the Committee on Finance and Budget. The longstanding friendly relations as well as development of the bilateral relationship between Luxembourg and Kazakhstan were the main topics of discussion.

During his stay in Nur-Sultan, Ambassador Faber also had a meeting with the Chairman of the Investment committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Ardak Zebeshev, and representatives of JSC Kazakh Invest, Mr. Meirzhan Yussupov, CEO, Mr. Zhandos Temirgali, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, and Mr. Daulet Saktaganov, Country Manager. They discussed investment opportunities for Luxembourg companies in Kazakhstan and potential areas of cooperation between the two countries. In addition, Ambassador Faber visited the offices of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce in Nur-Sultan and met with Mr. Nurbek Yergeshbayev, General Director to discuss ongoing and upcoming activities of the trilateral Chamber. Finally, in Nur-Sultan, Ambassador Faber discussed the political, economic and social reform process in Kazakhstan with the Head of the EU Delegation and EU colleagues. He also hosted a dinner with several European ambassadors at the residence of Luxembourg’s Honorary Consul in Nur-Sultan, Mr. Aldiyar Kaztayev.

In Almaty, among others, Mr. Faber visited the local branch of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce to discuss potential mutually beneficial business opportunities and met with the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Almaty, Mr. Orifjan Shadiyev.
