Minister Marie-Josée Jacobs participates at the 9th Conference of ministers of the Council of Europe in St. Petersburg
The Minister for Family and Integration of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, Mrs Marie-Josée Jacobs, participated at the 9th Conference of Ministers responsible for youth of the Council of Europe held in Saint-Petersburg from September 23rd – 25th, 2012
The conference focused on “Young people’s access to rights: Development of innovative youth policies”. The objective was to explore possible strategies and actions for youth policy in their respective countries and provide ministers the opportunity to share examples of good practice.
Minister Jacobs participated in the panel on social inclusion of young people. She presented the “Youth Pact” of the Luxembourg Government which establishes a concerted and coherent youth policy through enhanced cooperation between the various ministries.
Mrs Jacobs indicated that the social inclusion of young people is often patterned by the family, economic, social and cultural situation and that an action can only be efficient while taking all such aspects into consideration.
Part of the discussions focused on the reasons of discrimination and Mrs Jacobs pointed out during the debate that she supports the explicit mentioning of sexual orientation. By doing this, she shared the concern expressed by many young people.
