Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Moscow, Mr. Frank Braun, participated in the EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference that was held on 18 November in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. During the Conference, the participants explored ways to enhance the cooperation between the EU and the Central Asian countries in three major areas:digital connectivity, transport connectivity, and energy connectivity. The EU Delegation was headed by HR/VP Borrell who underlined in his opening remarks the reasons behind the reinforced engagement between the two regions: “Our purpose is to bring Europe and Central Asia closer […] to deepen our links, to expand cooperation and to work together to ensure a sustainable development and economic prosperity in the future. […] We respect and endorse the natural desire of our Central Asian partners to reject dependency on any single international partner, regardless of history or geography. We support the right of our Central Asian friends to be free to choose”. |
