Working visit of Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Olga Golodets, paid a working visit to Luxembourg on 23 and 24 November 2016.

She had a meeting with the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, at the Hotel de Bourgogne.
Discussions focused on bilateral relations and relations between Russia and the European Union.
Xavier Bettel and Olga Golodets, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, attended a concert by the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra conducted by maestro Valery Gergiev who also serves as honorary consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Saint Petersburg. The concert, which took place at the Philharmonie concert hall, is part of the celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Luxembourg.

On 24 November 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Golodets and State Secretary for Culture Guy Arendt visited the National Museum of History and Art and the National Library.

The Russian delegation then visited the Belval campus, where it was hosted by the Minister delegate for Higher Education and Research, Marc Hansen. Olga Golodets had also discussions with the rector of the University of Luxembourg, Professor Dr Rainer Klump, at the House of Knowledge, and with the director of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedecine (LCSB), Rudi Balling.

Furthermore, a meeting with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Mars Di Bartolomeo, featured on the program.
